Miner’s Steak

This is an especially easy dish to prepare because the meat doesn’t have to be browned first. Use any wild meat that is available. Tender and delicious!
  • ¼ cup flour
  • 1 tsp. salt 
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper 
  • 1 tsp. DLS* OR increase pepper to 1 tsp.
  • 1 1/2 lbs. round steak cut into 1/2" strips
  • 1 large, onion, sliced
  • 1 green pepper, sliced
  • 10 oz. can mushrooms, drained
  • 1 tbsp. molasses
  • 3 tbsp. soy sauce
  • 1 cup beef stock
  • 19 oz. can tomatoes, chopped
  1. Combine the flour, salt, pepper (and DLS*) in a plastic bag or bowl. 
  2. Shake the meat strips in the flour mixture and place in a Dutch oven or roaster. 
  3. Place the onions, peppers and mushrooms over the meat. 
  4. Combine the molasses, soy sauce, beef stock and tomatoes and pour over the meat and vegetables. 
  5. Cover and bake at 325 degrees F for 2 ½ to 3 hours. Stir once or twice while baking. 

Serves 6 

Serve over noodles.
